three in a row

Man God is good! I am beside myself with excitement over what He has been doing at HGBC over the last 3 weeks. He has shown Himself in such a powerful way. It is so humbling to be allowed by God to participate in what He is doing in this place. I reiterate the Psalmist as I challenge you "Oh taste and see that the Lord is good..."

Worship

It is so easy to get caught up in going to a worship service that we forget to worship. It happens when we become complacent with what we are and who's we are. I struggle with it more than you know, especially when I am trying to focus on the message I am to deliver.

But the last two weeks have been awesome times of worship. People have actually been worshipping in ways that are uncommon at HGBC: lifting hands, shouting, weeping, etc...in other words God showed up in a special, powerful way. We left truly saying "I was glad when they said to me 'let us go to the house of the Lord'."

I can't wait to see and experience what God has in store for us this coming Sunday. I encourage you to come check it out.

UPWARD Ministry

Today we had our 3rd week of UPWARD basketball and cheerleading at HGBC. We are having a blast. I referee and I love it. To be out there helping the kids have a fun time is very fun for me. We have about 80 kids this year and my one prayer for them and their families is that they are able to see Jesus Christ in us very clearly. I know that if they see Him for who He really is they will want to know Him personally. Let's be transparent.

Going back!

We are headed back to Juticalpa, Olancho, Honduras. The dates for the trip are August 2-9. Join us if you can. We will begin having team meetings at the end of February. I can't wait to join forces with you there for the cause of Christ.

The Greatest Show on Earth

Yes, today Melissa and I took Morgan to the circus for the first time. Ringling Bro. was in Jacksonville and we had a blast. Although I think Melissa and I enjoyed it more than Morgan. But her eyes did light up when the elephants and tigers were out. She was captivated. She would not be distracted. The rest of the time was up in the air as far as distractions go. Have a great day.

A whole New Year

WOW! 07 has come and gone. The Christmas decorations are down and put away. We have gone through the count down and in came 08. It's a whole New Year and things are back to normal. Wait a minute! Is that how it should be? Should things go back to normal. My friend Jay Forsythe wrote an interesting blog today, you can check it out at www.jayforsythe.com. He talks about the possibility of settling for the status quo or going for the extraordinary life we are to live in Christ.

One of the things I have done since we came home from Christmas is look at pictures. Melissa and Morgan look beautiful, me, there is something I noticed. I noticed that I was sucking "it" in in the pictures. I was thinking, I have never been petite or skinny, I am not as heavy as I once was, will I settle for the status quo (things as they are) or will I do something about it. Well that is still up in the air, but one thing I do know. I want to live the extraordinary life in Christ. I never want to settle for the status quo; I never want to find myself sucking it in trying to make it look like something its not. How 'bout you?
